Cal, back from three years in San Diego, leads The Meyerist Movement on a disaster relief mission in New Hampshire. Eddie returns home after completing his 6R training in Peru, where he saw a horrifying vision of the organization's truth. Eddie's odd behavior leads Sarah to suspect an affair.
Eddie and Sarah begin the Infidelity Rehab Program, while Hawk makes a new friend in Ashley, a popular girl his age who needs help with her family's finances. Meanwhile, Cal offers to help a wealthy donor's drug-addicted son.
Cal visits his estranged mother with the intent of putting her in an assisted living facility. Miranda Frank is brought to the New York compound to unburden, and with Cal gone, Sarah chooses to confront Miranda alone.
The compound receives a visit from two of The Movement's elders for its annual Ascension Day picnic. Their arrival calls Cal's leadership and the future of The Movement into question. During the festivities, Abe learns of Mary Cox's troubled past, and Hawk decides to take a step closer to Ashley.
Upon learning about Hawk's ongoing relationship with Ashley, Eddie and Sarah find themselves at odds. Meanwhile, Abe meets with Alison and suspects The Movement may be involved in criminal activity. Hawk tries to break up with Ashley. After confronting Sarah, Cal returns to the Ridge estate to declare his support for her actions.
After Ashley's family is evicted, Hawk brings them home for shelter. Faced with her son's relationship to an IS, Sarah goes on a personal mission to answer questions from her past. Cal asserts his leadership and makes a bold political decision for The Movement.
After Cal's actions beckon a swarm of media attention to the compound, Sarah and the elders question his tactics. Cal discovers Eddie's secret relationship with Alison. Feeling his control slip away, Cal spirals into a rage and leaves Sarah to address the congregation on her own.
Eddie brings Hawk along on a journey of spiritual enlightenment, while Cal struggles with the ugly reality of his own violent tendencies. Nicole's labor becomes troubled, and Sarah performs a miracle to save the child. Cal, in a moment of weakness, tells Sarah a secret about Eddie.

Sarah and Cal learn that the FBI is investigating The Movement. Hawk and Noa grow closer, while Mary and Sean deal with challenges to their relationship. After an outburst at the casino with Chloe, Eddie joins a support group for former cult members.
After Sarah breaks her agreement with Libby Dekaan, Hawk is arrested for eco-terrorism. While Abe gains Cal's trust, Cal tries to uncover the FBI mole inside The Movement. Eddie and Sarah reconnect in the wake of the threats to their broken family.
Eddie and Sarah can't resist feelings for each other, even though he's dating Chloe. Against Sarah's wishes, Hawk moves to the city to climb The Ladder with Cal as his guide. Abe takes over security for The Movement. Kodiak wants revenge for Steve's death.
With the compound facing foreclosure, Sarah and Cal try to raise money for The Movement, putting the city center at risk. Hawk takes on a leadership role, as Cal targets Noa's wealthy mother. Eddie bonds with Chloe's son, unaware that he's being followed.
Cal secretly travels to Los Angeles, fighting for a big donation from Noa's mother Jackie. Sarah visits a dying Brenda, who reveals how disturbing Cal's relationship with Steve was. Richard and Kodiak force Eddie to relive Steve's death in his mind's eye.
Guilty over blackmailing members to pay off their debts, Sarah enlists Cal to speak at the World Faith Conference with her. Eddie has an epiphany about the future of The Movement, and reaches out to another Denier in the family. Hawk grows closer to Noa.
The Meyerists participate in Restitution, atoning for their worst sins of the year. Mary is pressured to leave The Movement with Sean. Eddie upsets Sarah's family by bringing back an estranged family member, and learns the truth about Cal and Sarah.
Eddie continues to climb the rungs with Felicia, and confronts Cal with startling revelations about Steve. Sean and Mary contemplate a new life in the outside world. Sarah wrestles with the splintering factions in both her family and The Movement.
As the scope of The Movement's misdeeds comes into focus, Eddie grows disillusioned with the future of Meyerism. Meanwhile, The Movement gains its newest member and loses one of its oldest, as Mary goes into labor and Cal and Sarah label Richard a Denier.
Cal struggles to maintain control over The Movement, still haunted by Richard. Eddie must reconcile his love for his family with his newfound role as a leader. On Ascension Day, Meyerists are faced with a decision that could change The Movement forever.
Eddie is the new Guardian of the light, and with the help of his sleek new publicist Vera, Eddie removes security and opens up the doors of the movement; but when blood appears on the Compound, even his supporters will question his decision. After one of her blackmail victims commits suicide, Sarah seeks to be punished. For that she goes to Cal, who is living his own version of torture in Florida, along with Mary and his son Forest.
When the family of a novice publicly bashes Eddie, he must choose between turning the other cheek and using Vera as a weapon to fire back. An old Meyerist ritual brings out repressed memories for Cal, and as much as he wants to forget, destiny, and Mary, won't let him. Sarah's faith crisis deepens when she meets a College Professor of Religion who challenges everything she's ever believed in.
Despite everyone's fears and objections, Eddie wants to try and save the soul of the racist kid who's been terrorizing the Compound. Vera struggles between her loyalty to her mother and her prophecy, and her growing feelings for Eddie. Cal cannot stay in denial and hide from his trauma, so he decides to drag his family back to the Compound, making Mary fear for their future together.
A bomb threat on the Compound has everyone on edge, and Eddie feels responsible for it. Cal blackmails Vera into naming him CEO of Meyerism. Sarah discovers that The Ladder may have had another author, a woman, who was forcefully silenced.
After learning the dark truth about Steve, Sarah pulls Summer out of the annual pageant, upsetting her family. To help further Lilith's prophecy, Vera plans a US tour to spread Meyerism. But in a town where they're not welcome Eddie's life is endangered.
Sarah studies Steve's secret journals trying to find out who wrote The Ladder, bringing her closer to Professor Neill. But a death in the family brings her and Eddie together, and it makes Sarah long for her faith. Harold discovers Mary stole his Championship rings, so he and Cal must find out who has them, and try to get them back.
Eddie travels to Paris to open Europe's first Meyerist Center, and he brings Sarah along with the hope to restore her faith; but her insatiable search for Lilith may have taken her beyond the point of no return. Meanwhile, Cal and Mary have their own plans.
After the chaos in Paris, Sarah searches for the mysterious man who may help her find Lilith. Eddie forces the whole congregation to "Refine," asking them to give up things they care for the most and upsetting most of them in the process. After getting fired, Vera tries a life outside of Meyerism and away from her mom.
Without Vera to do his dirty work, Eddie must face the dark side of being a leader to a religious movement. Vera converts to Meyerism, bringing her closer to Eddie, but the ODE test may bring out a secret that could affect the whole Movement. Outside of Meyerism, Sarah dives deep into Lilith's prophecy, challenging everything she's ever believed on.
Eddie tries to protect the movement by implementing legal contracts, which send his family and others on a battle against him. Eddie refuses to meet Lilith, but Vera makes a confession that could change his mind. Cal seeks therapy to unlock repressed memories from his past. Lilith has a new vision about the end of the world.
Eddie and Hawk take a trip together, to break Caleb out of Christian conversion therapy. Cal's repressed memories make him confront his past. Sarah and Vera face-off about Lilith. Mary is presented with a new life possibility outside the movement.
After Professor Jackson Neill releases an exposé on Meyerism and calls them a cult on National television, Cal is forced to decide whether to defend his faith and the man who abused him, or walk away. Eddie and Sarah go on a quest for the truth behind Steve, Lilith, and the origins of Meyerism, putting their faith into question.
Despite everyone's objections, Eddie is determined to reveal the truth about Stephen Meyer and the origins of the Movement. But a dark force plots to stop him, and end Meyerism, once and for all.
